About Me
We all experience difficulty trying to navigate obstacles and absurdities in life. Søren Kierkegaard, a philosopher, articulated it well: “Life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forwards.” I believe therapy helps us process this difficult truth through a courageous practice of turning our focus inward and confronting the parts of ourselves that we are often intent on avoiding. It feels daunting to give attention to regrets, disappointments, or the suspicion that we are not living up to our own potential. Perhaps, the actual risk is our own realization of a need to change but feeling unsure of succeeding.
I have a background in philosophy, and I work primarily within an existential framework. This means that I believe that individuals are the "authors" of their own lives and are capable of making choices that enact real change in how they experience life. This outlook challenges common narratives around ADHD, BPD, Autism, and Personality Disorders.
I am dedicated to understanding the lived experiences of individuals diagnosed with the mental health conditions listed above. Through an approach of curiosity and compassion, we can explore your schemas (assumptions and expectations for interactions) and metacognitions (how you think about your thinking) in a way that builds towards agency and wellbeing.
